While photography has always been a hobby of mine, Chris Damitz Photography was started kind of by accident. It started in 2003 when I wanted to take my camera to a Quad City Steemwheelers (Arena Football) game and take some photos from the stands as we watched the game. Security would not let me take my camera in without a media pass. So that next week I called the Wheelers office and explained what I wanted to do. Ryan Holtman, the media director at the time, said no problem and game me a media pass for the rest of the season. Little did I know, at the next game when I went to pick up my pass, he gave me an all access pass. So at that game I shot for the very first time from on the actual field. Before the end of the season I was the Wheelers official team photographer, which I did for 3 1/2 years. From there it just kinda grew. Working with the Deckmates (the Wheelers cheerleaders) got me into doing portraits. At one game Ryan, a SAU graduate, introduced me to Bruce, the head coach for St. Ambrose Universities womens volleyball team. Which kinda lead to me attending most off there home games and taking photos for there website ever since. The race car photography was kind of a natural fit, being that I grew up around racing of all kinds since I was just a couple of years old. Next thing you know 15 years later he I am. While photography is still a hobby for me, I do take it very seriously. I will shoot just about anything from sporting events, racing, scenic photos, portraits and even weddings (very select few). Here in 2018 & beyond (until further notice), I will not be taking on any outside shoots &/or projects. I am focusing on my family time, Jeep club & personal photography projects for the unforseen future.
